Hi, I’m Lucy the founder of Dental Nursing Essentials.

My dental nursing journey began in 2018 when I started my apprenticeship to gain my NVQ Level 3 qualification. It didn’t take long for me to realise just how little support there was for trainee and apprentice dental nurses. Balancing coursework, clinical pressure, and everyday life felt overwhelming at times, and I knew so many others were struggling too.

I qualified in 2020, and that’s when the idea for Dental Nursing Essentials was born. I wanted to create a tool that genuinely helped trainees feel supported, organised, and confident, something I wish I’d had myself. After training many wonderful apprentices in practice, I knew exactly what was missing, and the Essential Dental Nursing Planner became the first step in filling that gap.

Building this business while juggling work, two young children, and everyday life hasn’t been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. Along the way, I met David, a dentist I worked with after moving practices, who later became our COO and has played a huge part in helping this company grow into what it is today, although small we have big goals in mind to help the dental nursing community in the UK and hopefully worldwide.

I’m grateful for every bit of support I’ve received from my family, friends, and most importantly, the dental nurses who have purchased our products and believed in this mission. You are the reason this brand exists.

As our small community grew, I realised qualified dental nurses needed just as much support as trainees. The pressures don’t disappear after qualification — if anything, they grow. That’s why we developed the Qualified Nurse Planner: to help every dental nurse stay organised, empowered, and in control of their career.

Dental nurses are the backbone of dentistry. Between running late, managing patients, supporting clinicians, and sprinting to the autoclave, you hold the entire practice together. You deserve tools that support you just as much as you support everyone else.

My goal is simple: to help dental nurses feel confident, capable, and valued — not stressed, overwhelmed, or overlooked. I hope our products reach you at the right moment and make your dental nursing journey a little easier, a little lighter, and a lot more supported.
